(The Villages, FL) This week, The Villages® Regional Hospital commemorated the completion of its TVRH Rehabilitation Hospital, which is located on the fifth floor of the hospital’s new North Tower. The 20-bed facility will officially open July 1, 2016.
TVRH Rehabilitation Hospital will provide acute care for patients who suffer from conditions including but not limited to strokes, spinal cord injuries, amputations, brain injuries, major multiple trauma, hip fractures, neurological disorders and knee or hip replacements.
“The intensity of our physician oversight far exceeds what is provided in a skilled nursing facility,” says Michael Pittman, Chief Clinical Officer at The Villages® Regional Hospital. “We provide at least fifteen hours of intense therapy services each week for our patients. Our doctors round on patients every day and the entire team meets regularly to discuss patient progress, functional status and discharge plans.”
The facility includes private patient rooms, a state-of-the-art physical therapy gym and communal dining hall. Patients will receive around-the-clock care, occupational therapy, speech pathology, social services and case management, neuropsychology and more.
“With easy access to diagnostic testing and hospital services as well as comprehensive physician oversight, we are here to make sure patients have the proper therapy to improve their overall quality of life,” concludes Pittman.
The completion of the TVRH Rehabilitation Hospital marks the end of a $59 million expansion project that started in 2013.
