Central Florida Health Announces New Board of Trustees and Medical Staff Leadership Members

Lake County, FL—Central Florida Health—a private, not-for-profit health system that includes Leesburg Regional Medical Center, The Villages® Regional Hospital and TVRH Rehabilitation Hospital—announces the appointment of two new members to its Board of Trustees as well as the full roster of officers and members for 2017.

“I am extremely pleased to welcome two outstanding community members to the Central Florida Health Board of Trustees,” said Greg Lewis, board chairperson. “These folks will have an important role in shaping the future of healthcare in Lake, Sumter and south Marion Counties. Their participation in our community-owned and governed health system is of great importance.”

New board member H. Marlene O’Toole has just completed a term as a member of the Florida House of Representatives representing the 33rd District, which includes northern Lake County, Sumter County and southern Marion County. Prior to being elected to public office in 2008, she was an account management and marketing executive with IBM Corporation.

O’Toole has worked with the Lake County School System as project manager and special assistant to the president of Take Stock in Children; a nonprofit organization dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty for low-income, academically qualified students by providing opportunities for a post-secondary education.

Lynne S. Winker is also new to the CFH Board of Trustees. She is currently vice president and chief marketing officer for United Southern Bank, where she has been employed for 31 years. A lifelong resident of Leesburg, FL, Winker is also an Emeritus board member of the Leesburg Regional Medical Center Foundation. During her tenure as board chair from 2014 to 2016, the Leesburg Regional Medical Center Foundation raised and donated $3 million to assist in the construction of a new 24-bed Short Stay Wing at the hospital.

Winker’s other community involvements include serving as a board member for Hand in Hand Lake County and the March of Dimes. She has been president of Eustis Main Street and the Leesburg Chamber of Commerce and is a member of First Baptist Church of Leesburg.

O’Toole and Winker will replace longtime board members Janet Bolivar and Terry Upton who are rotating off the Board due to reaching their term limits. Bolivar served on the Board from January 1, 2005 to December 31, 2016; and Upton from January 1, 2006 to December 31, 2016. “We owe Janet and Terry a tremendous debt of gratitude to them for their unwavering commitment to Central Florida Health’s rise to prominence as the largest and most comprehensive provider of medical care in our service area,” says Don Henderson, president and chief executive officer of Central Florida Health.

Leesburg Regional Medical Center and The Villages® Regional Hospital also recently elected new leaders for its medical staffs.

At Leesburg Regional Medical Center, local obstetrician and gynecologist Manuel Alvarado, MD, with Advanced Obstetrics & Gynecology in Leesburg, is the incoming medical staff president; and Navin Reddy, MD, an emergency medicine specialist at Leesburg Regional Medical Center is vice president.

Jose R. Rosado, MD, a cardiologist with Florida Heart & Vascular Multi-Specialty Group with locations in Leesburg and The Villages®, is the incoming medical staff president at The Villages® Regional Hospital; and oncologist/hematologist Sandeep Thaper, MD, with Central Florida Hematology & Oncology in Leesburg is vice president.

“Strong leadership at the medical staff level is an essential element of delivering clinical excellence,” says Henderson. “These dedicated physicians will be champions for improvements in patient outcomes and our goal to better coordinate care across the full continuum.”
