Central Florida Health Receives a Gold Level Worksite Wellness Award for Comprehensive Tobacco Cessation Benefits for Employees

(The Villages, FL) Earlier today, the Florida Tobacco Cessation Alliance (FTCA) presented a Gold Level Award to Central Florida Health, the parent organization of The Villages® Regional Hospital and Leesburg Regional Medical Center, for their commitment and dedication to their employees’ health and wellness.

“Central Florida Health provides their employees with a sound tobacco cessation program that includes free counseling and complete coverage of all seven of the FDA-approved tobacco cessation medications, with no limit on the number of quit attempts per year,” said Kari Jacoby with the American Lung Association and Florida Tobacco Cessation Alliance.

It is estimated that smoking costs Florida $19.6 billion annually in workplace productivity losses, premature deaths and direct healthcare expenditures.

“Our hospitals are committed to providing our employees, patients and the community with various opportunities to quit the use of tobacco and nicotine products such as E-cigarettes,” said Juli Romero-Gomez, RN, Wellness Program Coordinator at Central Florida Health. “We are honored to be acknowledged for our hard work and will continue to educate, inform and empower all those who are ready to live a tobacco-free life.”
